Learn about Nominee Funds

Updated over a week ago

On WinRed donation pages, you may come across a campaign or organization that is splitting funds with nominee funds. These funds are a way to raise money for who the eventual nominee is once the primary is over.
As opposed to donating to a candidate directly in the primary, you can donate to whoever comes out on top.

Where Does My Donation Go?

All the funds that were collected before the primary are transferred into the campaign's account once the general election portion of the race begins.

You'll be able to know it's a nominee fund if it follows the naming scheme "[State or House District] Nominee Fund". Currently, nominee funds are only available for Federal candidates.

How to Request a Refund From a Nominee Fund

If you donated to a nominee fund and need a refund, follow the instructions on requesting refunds in this support article.

If you have questions or are unsure about any of these steps, please reach out to our support team by clicking the red chat box at the bottom right corner of your screen. You can also email us at
