Create a Merchandise Campaign

Add a Product to Your Page Using a Merch Campaign.

Updated over a week ago

Merchandise Campaigns are available for products fulfilled by one of our WinRed's integrated vendors. To sell products on your donation pages, you must add the product to a Merchandise Campaign and add that Merchandise Campaign to your donation page.

Create a Merchandise Campaign

Once our team has completed your product setup, you can add your product(s) to a Campaign. Click the Pages tab, and click the Campaigns tab in the sub-menu.

Click the green Create Campaign button at the top right corner of your screen. Choose Merchandise Campaign from the drop-down menu.

Enter the title for your campaign (pro-tip: make the campaign title similar to the product name being used).

Next, add the product(s) that you'd like to this particular campaign. You can add up to 5 products to one campaign. If you'd like to offer the choice between more than 1 item, you can set up merchandise tiers; read more here.

Next, set your Minimum Donation Amount. This is what the donor will need to contribute to receive your merchandise.

This amount can be whatever you like, as long as it is more than the cost of the product and shipping combined.

For example, if you would like to offer an item that has a product price + shipping cost of $10, you can set the minimum donation amount as $25 to receive at least a $15 margin on each donation.

Minimum Qualifying Donation Amount = $25
Product Cost + Shipping = $10

Your Margin = $15

Note: You can see a breakdown of this within your product details in the products subtab. Clicking on the product details, you’ll find the merchandise campaign minimum calculator, it looks like the screenshot below.

Finally, add a Shipping Disclaimer for your product, which will appear in the order receipt emailed to the donor. Processing time is typically 7-10 business days.

Require a Recurring Donation to Qualify for a Merchandise Order

You can require a donor to make their gift recurring to qualify for a merchandise item on a donation page. This is a great way to incentivize donors to opt-in to recurring donations and sell merchandise.

Scroll down a bit on the campaign, until you see a section like the screenshot below. Toggle to YES to require a recurring donation to trigger a merchandise campaign.

Add the Merchandise Campaign to a Page

Once you've created your Merchandise Campaign, head to the My Pages tab and click the page you'd like to add to the campaign.

In the Page Setup tab, scroll down to the Campaign section. From the drop-down, choose the Campaign you'd like to add to the page.

Merchandise Campaigns that have recurring donations required will be added in the same place but will have a yes under recurring required.

What Donors Will See

Donors viewing a page with a Regular Merchandise Campaign or a Merchandise Campaign with Recurring Required appended will see a green message when selecting a qualifying donation.

When recurring requirements are enabled, donors will see error messages respective to the requirements to meet the qualifying donation and recurring requirements until they are satisfied.

Please note that these error messages do not prevent a donation from being completed, even if they are below the qualifying amounts or recurring is not enabled.

Track Your Campaign's Success

To see how well your campaign is performing, head back to your Campaigns tab in the sub-menu of your Pages tab. Here, you will see every Campaign you've created, including the number of donors, donations, and total raised for each Campaign.

To archive a Campaign, click the ellipses at the right side of your screen and click archive from the menu.

Additional Information

WinRed’s zero-touch e-commerce operation allows you to leverage merchandise upsells within your donation pages with no hassle. By using the merchandise campaigns on your WinRed donation pages, you can offer donors a gift with their minimum donation.

How is money split in a merchandise campaign?

WinRed leverages a direct-to-garment merchandise process, this means there are no upfront costs for your merchandise. As a qualifying donation comes in, WinRed will remove the cost of the product from the donation and payout to the vendor, with the remaining funds from the donation being split amongst the slate members.

If a donor does not split their funds equally across each candidate, the donor will not qualify for the merchandise gift. This is because all candidates on the slate will split the cost of the product. If a donor splits their funds across candidates unevenly, but the lowest amount allocated still covers the cost of the merchandise, the donor will qualify.

Upon completion of qualifying donations, the donor will be asked for their shipping address alongside their billing address. Once the donation is complete, the order is created and triggers the appropriate vendor to begin fulfillment.
