Add the Thermometer Widget

Display a goal directly on a WinRed page

Updated over a week ago

The Thermometer allows you to add a public-facing goal to your donors so when they come to your fundraising pages, they can see what that goal is, how much progress has been made, and what their impact is towards helping you reach it.

This tool is very powerful, and it can be used for end-of-month fundraising pushes, end-of-quarter, your specific fundraising blitzes on a certain day, and even candidate announcements.

Types of Fundraising Goals

There are four different types of thermometers that can be added to a page. Only one type of thermometer can be added to a page at a time.

  • Revenue - This will display the amount of funds donated on the page.

  • Subscribers - This will display how many recurring donations were created on the page.

  • Donor Profiles - This will display how many donor profiles donated on the page.

  • Leads - This will display the number of leads generated on petition pages.

Add The Widget To A Page

Click on the Widgets tab and select the Add Widget button to display a dropdown of available widgets and select the thermometer from the dropdown.

Customize the callout text which will display above the thermometer on the donation page.

Create A New Thermometer

Once the widget has been added to the page, select the green Create New Thermometer button.

Give your new thermometer an internal name. This will only be viewable in the page builder, and donors will not see it.

Choose one of the four types of goals mentioned above.

Select the start date you want to query the data after and input a goal amount for the thermometer.

Pro-tip: Add an additional goal so that your thermometer will update once the first goal has been reached. You can add as many goals as you want!

You can boost your thermometer under the Thermometer Boost field by adding an amount. The thermometer will then display the amount inputted here.

Once all the necessary information is inputted, hit the green Save button at the bottom of the page.

Once saved, a preview of the thermometer on the right side of the screen will appear.

Add Existing Thermometer

Once the widget has been added to the page, select the green Add Existing Thermometer button.

Use the drop-down menu to search and select a previously created thermometer.

Lastly, hit the green Save button in the top-right corner.

Once the thermometer widget is added to a page, donors will be able to see their donations' real-time impact on the thermometer, as pictured below.

You can also preview the page to see how the widgets look on the donation form.

The thermometer can take up to 5 minutes to update once a donation is completed and has been processed.

Bulk Update The Thermometer

The Thermometer Widget can be bulk updated to appear or removed on all pages of an account.

Head to the Bulk Actions tab and select the Thermometer Widget Bulk Update from the menu -

Select the type of page you want to update with this thermometer, Donation, or Petition, add an optional thermometer label, and then select the thermometer you want to add to all of your pages.

Please note that you can only add a leads thermometer to a petition page, and a donors/ donations thermometer to a donation page.

Note: The Bulk Action tool allows you to mass update all pages with just a few clicks. Click here to learn more about using the Bulk Action tool.
